Conservation Volunteers
TCV Hollybush, in Kirkstall Leeds, has been a thriving environmental volunteering centre since 1979. Our groups and courses attract a variety of people, including those with known mental health conditions and others, who through the other issues in their lives, are at risk of developing depression or anxiety and would benefit from continuing preventative support, individuals with learning disability, those with other barriers to employment, career changers and the retired.

As a charity managed by Groundwork Yorkshire, we are dedicated to creating a vibrant future for every neighbourhood, fostering strong communities, and ensuring that everyone can shape their own destiny, regardless of their background or circumstances.

Learning Partnerships Ltd
Community Learning Partnerships is a charity that helps people from the most deprived areas in Leeds where poverty is entrenched. Many have barriers that prevent them from participating equally in society.
Community Learning Partnerships help adults, young people, families, single parents, children and members of the BAME community. From their latest client assessments; 70% of those we help are long-term unemployed, 32% have mental health difficulties, 82% have low skills and 60% speak little or no English when they come to them for support.
Leeds City College
Leeds City College is one of the largest further education institutions in the country, with more than 20,000 students, and is one of the biggest providers of apprenticeships regionally. Our selection of courses covers almost all subject areas, including academic and vocational qualifications at multiple levels. From apprenticeships, to T Levels and vocational courses, Leeds City College’s qualifications ensure every student can take steps towards success.

Leeds City Council’s (LCC) adult learning provision is at the heart of the city’s learning offer for adults, families and communities, it’s based on a deep-rooted understanding of the city, our communities and their needs and part of an established multi-agency approach. The Council’s contribution to the city’s adult learning offer has a specific focus on helping adults to acquire skills and move into employment in a compassionate city that helps all its residents contribute to, and benefit from, the effects of economic growth and take action to reduce poverty and inequalities. It also focuses on developing healthy, resilient, and sustainable communities, building appetite for learning. It is a place-based approach, with the intention of reaching those individuals and communities that will benefit the most from our Tailored Learning offer.
Nari Ekta Ltd
“Nari Ekta” which means “Women United” was established in 1985 to cater for the specific training needs of women from South East Asia. Nari Ekta is funded by Leeds City Council. The Scheme has gained exemption from the Race Relations Act and the Sex Discrimination Act, which enables us to take only unemployed Ethnic Minority women, as trainees. Nari Ekta has also been registered as an Industrial Provident Society and has a constitution, which gives us charitable status.

PATH Yorkshire
A Charity providing education, training, and employment support to diverse communities, migrant groups, refugees, and asylum seekers. We also work collaboratively with employers, local councils, universities, and businesses in implementing their Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion strategies.
Refugee Education Training Advice Service
Established in 2002, RETAS (Refugee Education Training Advice Service), is a well-respected community-based charity that supports the social, cultural and economic integration of refugees and asylum seekers in West Yorkshire. Located in the heart of Harehills, we annually, support over 3000 new asylum seekers and refugees and over 10800 related cases. We run learner responsive ESOL course specifically catering to beginner and illiterate learners. We also run digital skills and additional courses in the language around navigating the transition between asylum and refugee status. We offer a full holistic wraparound advice service.
Swarthmore
Our main aim is to encourage people who want to learn but might not feel comfortable in more formal educational institutions.
We offer a wide range of courses and workshops, run community projects, have regular exhibitions, offer room hire at competitive rates, and have an onsite cafe.
Swarthmore now has a Hardship Fund available to ensure everyone has access to our courses and workshops. If you would like to apply for financial support, please visit the Courses and Workshops page for more information. ALL funds raised will be used for the sole purpose of supporting our students.
