ESOL - Social Conversation

This is an English language course for speakers of other languages (ESOL) and aims to improve confidence and development of functional language skills when communicating in social situations. Open to learners from Entry to Entry 3 level, learners will learn the vocabulary for, and be able to interact with, other people in social situations and participate in casual conversation. Learners will also learn how to talk about feelings and emotions and how to offer an opinion. Learners may also develop skills in agreeing and disagreeing politely as well as how to answer a range of questions. As well as learning the core vocabulary, reading, writing and speaking and listening skills, by working independently and in small groups with your tutor, you will also develop wider skills such as (add/amend as appropriate): \u9679?\tab Problem solving \u9679?\tab Team working \u9679?\tab Communication skills \u9679?\tab Study skills. \u9679?\tab Watch/research videos on small talk How you will be taught, and your understanding checked: Your tutor will work with you to understand what your level of knowledge is before you start to ensure that you are working at the right level for your needs. They will agree a learning plan for you to work towards. The course will be a mixture of whole class teaching, independent activity and small group/pair work, all supported by your tutor. Your tutor will talk to you about your progress and you will give you feedback to help you to continue to develop your skills and knowledge. On successful completion of the core modules, your tutor will talk to you about your progress and achievements. They will help you to decide what to do next, for example. \u9679?\tab Continue your studies in ESOL and complete a further module (up to 120GLH per year) \u9679?\tab continue your studies in ESOL and work towards a qualification. \u9679?\tab Start to learn another subject. \u9679?\tab Look for work or volunteering opportunities. \u9679?\tab Use your new skills in your everyday life.
