ESOL - Reading for Everyday Life
This is an English reading course for speakers of other languages (ESOL) and aims to improve confidence and develop specific reading and understanding skills used in everyday life. Open to any learner from Entry to Entry 3 level, learners will learn to read and understand simple texts relevant to everyday life; use basic punctuation to aid understanding; read and obtain information from signs, pictures, and written text. learners may also learn to read and respond to more formal texts. As well as learning the core vocabulary, reading, writing, and speaking and listening skills, by working independently and in small groups with your tutor, you will also develop wider skills such as: \u9679?\tab Problem solving \u9679?\tab Team working \u9679?\tab Communication skills \u9679?\tab Study skills \u9679?\tab Using Google translate How you will be taught, and your understanding checked Your tutor will work with you to understand what your level of knowledge is before you start to ensure that you are working at the right level for your needs. They will agree a learning plan for you to work towards. The course will be a mixture of whole class teaching, independent activity and small group/pair work, all supported by your tutor. Your tutor will talk to you about your progress and you will give you feedback to help you to continue to develop your skills and knowledge. On successful completion of the core modules, your tutor will talk to you about your progress and achievements. They will help you to decide what to do next, for example. \u9679?\tab Continue your studies in ESOL and complete a further module (up to 120GLH per year) \u9679?\tab continue your studies in ESOL and work towards a qualification. \u9679?\tab Start to learn another subject. \u9679?\tab Look for work or volunteering opportunities. \u9679?\tab Use your new skills in your everyday life.
